It's a forty-five minute walk, probably more like an hour with ice, to pick up my package at FedEx. Buuuuut after looking at the news I *really* dunwanna drive (cut for length) ... or take transit, honestly... and I've been out for a couple of fifteen-minute walks and a half-hour shoveling without problems in the last day or so. Basically my walking-in-winter skills exceed my driving-in-winter ones. I am a *bit* worried about getting overloaded and needing to stop and being stuck away from home, but I seem to have a fair number of spoons today, honestly. I think if I *had to* I could get to a coffee shop or similar to to rest a bit and then catch the bus; good chance I won't even need to if all goes well or even okayish. (ETA: I didn't. Got a bit chilly, though; I was well but not perfectly prepared.) And I really really dunwanna get in a car accident and that is seeming like a real possibility. *Or* fall, but my balance is pretty good lately? And I *like* walks and I need exercise. OTOH, walking with a big package...but it's light, bulky, and flat-rectangule-shaped because it's my college art portfolio. Do I have straps or even string to backpackify it? Hmmm. I could put string in my pocket. I should get a plastic bag or three, too, to protect the outside. ETA: Attaching the package to an empty backpack worked really really well, actually!

The plan appears to be to leave *all* the ice and crud compacted on the streets until it melts. Temperatures are projected to stay below freezing until Sunday afternoon at the earliest. *facepalm*

Oh gosh. I'm glad nobody was hurt in the metro accident.

Please stay warm, whatever you do.

Virtual ear scritches are on offer.

String or something, yes, because keeping your arms free, VERY VERY useful. Walk safely!

Be careful.

The sidewalks are somewhat messy here right now, but Montreal basically understands how to deal with snow. Even with that, I'm not the only person I saw slip this morning.
