The wonderful [personal profile] conuly has been attempting to feed, medicate, and shelter two semi-feral kittens, and has finally got them into a safe contained space. Anyone in the greater NYC area interested in two baby kitties who are a bit wild and shy but young enough to learn to love people?

Edited: If not, once they've been checked up and cleaned up and properly treated for eye troubles, they'll be moving on...to a shelter, a foster home, or TNR, depending on what's available and how their socialization goes.

To be fair, the ACC shelters have an excellent placement rate. They're kill shelters, but they do their best not to let it get to that point. And if they were right next door, the kitties would be there already. But it's a very very long trip, something like 90 minutes each way, and it's a long wait for the bus, too. (Because I have to take the freaking S78, which is evil and never on time.)

Though I'm wary about bringing sick animals to a shelter anyway. I gotta go talk to my neighbor, she's hooked up with foster groups.

In the absolute worst case scenario - and I don't see this happening - they complete their course of antibiotics, and I TNR them. They're still better off than they were. I'd only make that decision if I really, really thought that Kid Blink could not be socialized, in which case a shelter would be a profoundly bad idea for her.

On the plus side, if you read the recent entry, it seems Kid Blink is not a hopeless case! I'm still worried about that eye. It can be hard to place kitties with a disability, even a minor one, and if I'm right and that eye does have permanent, visible damage....
