yes I am going to portland pride probably today and tomorrow

I have decided I will top off whatever comfy clothes I end up wearing with scarf layers in purple white and green, because

when exactly will depend on scheduley things like partner getting her meds and also how much my shoulder is hassling me today etc

if we know each other and you are in Portland please feel free to PM me for my phone number for texts; however I may well be too overwhelmed to actually check it once I leave the apartment so caution is advised

i will drop by dw sometime tonight and tomorrow night so folks know I am still here

Quick good things from the last week or so, no order:

Garden plot, and things sprouting and growing.

People who stop to help strangers.

Guinea pig cuddle-squeaks.

Sunlight and finally being warm enough.

Access to water in some situations where it could've easily been unavailable.

... State of the me: still very stressed and exhausted, but hanging in there; good things help. And so do you; thanks for reading.

Hey! I'm here, I'm alive, and I'm more or less working on some things that will help with various things. Also some good things because Spring!

Context & Bad Things: Friday I commented a bit about being really miserable. A Bad Thing happened at school, and I was processing that. Read more... )

Good Things:

The plum, apple, and cherry trees are in full magnificent blossom here in Portland, with pear and crab-apple still in bloom but starting to drop petals and leaf out. There's that particular intense reddish pink that I want to call cherry-candy-colored but it is historically older and prettier than cherry candy! Sunrise cloud red-pink?

S and I are struggling with some communication with each other - I miss her nonverbal signals; she has a hard time finding the spoons to verbal at me - but we're very aware of it and love each other a lot and are working on it, and I think we made progress talking and listening before she needed to go to work. Progress is good!

I have discovered the Everything Croissant. You know all those seeds and spices and onion bits and more seeds you get on a good savory Everything Bagel? Try those swirled into a croissant with extra butter, and shaped like a giant muffin of croissant-y tastiness for extra silliness.

We got our community garden plot assignment at last! Payment, required training and volunteer hours, first day to weed and turn over, details of commute, and deal between me and S on who does what still to be worked out, but WE GOT ONE YAAAAAAY! And okay, it is far away, but still YAY GARDEN.

I have actually seen the sun at least briefly more days than not this past week.

One of my school kiddoes LOVES the sensory activity kit I put together for her and it is also helping with eliciting some spontaneous oral language stuff. Other stuff is complicated but hey smile of pure joy on little kid's face after squishing a squeezy toy and ringing a little silver bell = YES. Also several students keep giving me dandelions to wear at recess, so I do. <3

I have some time and some energy now and will try to go do some things accordingly.

If you are like me, April Fool's Day never made much sense, and people were not kind about it. This will be a safe spot away from that if I can manage it. I like holidays, I like humor, I like Spring, I do NOT like non-consensual teasing and pranking.

Following meme modified from [personal profile] bookblather
Okay, folks. As April first is Saturday, I hereby pledge not to post any pranks, jokes, false links, or screamers. Nothing originating on this blog will be a prank or deliberately incorrect. If I re-post or link to other people’s pranks, which I may, they will be clearly marked so you don't click on them and think they're real.

No direct links to howling horribleness, and no 'alternative facts', will ever purposefully appear on this blog. If one does, it's a hack or something changed, or I messed up; please let me know immediately so I can fix it.

Stay safe out there, my dears! We non-pranksters have got your back.

Long Night here. (Long day in the southern hemisphere.)

Grateful for you all.

Yule Blessings; may the coming year hold much of cheer, may the sun come around again with us all wiser but not too much sadder. Happy early Christmas, or Chanukah, or any holiday you celebrate. If it is Summer Solstice for you, enjoy the turn towards Fall. If it is Winter, as it is for me, then I hope your skies are clear and that you have the chance to (literally or figurateively) light a beacon, see the stars bright in the greater Night, sing a round, plant a seed for the coming Spring.

It's cold and dark out there; I'm so glad we have each other. Friends, kinfolk, strangers chance met, even enemies if you will put enmity aside. You are welcome by my fireside.

After school activities canceled on Wednesday; good thing too, it took three hours to drive home. Schools closed because of weather on Thursday. Schools closed on Friday, no reason given ... so, all of a sudden, it's winter break!

At the moment I am grateful for:

Finding a place to go. Hanging in there. Surviving fear. Being stubborn. Caring.

Also for pagan carols, authors writing busily away, recycled paper bags on which I can make art, the fact that I washed the dishes, my loves and friends and family and friendly acquaintances and colleagues and mentors and kin, past and present and future, and the mad determination to keep the holidays whatever happens.

A few brief gratitudes; no day is without things to be grateful for, however small.

When I began driving home today (post Daylight Savings time) the snowy heights of Mt. Hood were dim blue-silver above slopes of deep blue-lavender only a shade darker than, and merging into, the twilight sky.

And after I parked my car, yellow leaves crunched under my foot as I walked the block or so home with a hazy half-moon above in the darkened sky, and a breeze with just an edge of chill rustled through the faint cool of a mild fall evening.

<3 Love to everyone, and I hope we'll be all right on Wednesday.

rosy dawn glow through fog over pine trees

excellent views of the graceful arc of the Tilikum Crossing bridge, by early daylight all shining silver, by pre-sunrise twilight pale and jeweled with lights, and by early-AM darkness a stream of fiery colors topped with two bright flags

a park full of autumn trees in full color, including daffodil yellow, bright pinkish red, deep burnt orange, pumpkin orange, dark purplish red, true red-orange with bronze shadings, dark damp brown and faded dark green

a warm fuzzy blanket

a hot shower

clean laundry (thanks darling)

Some of the autumn scents in the air recently included wintergreen, pine sap, figs, and woodsmoke.

A stone bench I passed on my walk had a mosaic of polished pebbles set into the seat. They were smooth and shiny and pleasant to run my hand over.

Autumn leaves continue to be spectacular, even on gray rainy days. Particular notice goes to some all-red and all-yellow maples, as well as the small, delicately serrated, pale yellow leaves of birch trees.

TvTropes is a good source of endless entertainment that consumes as much and only as much brain power as I want it to.

Drinking water is refreshing and good for me.

Ear skritches! Good for kitties! I petted two cats and said hi to a third today; I also petted two dogs. Walks are good for that. The cat I said hi to but didn’t get to pet was the neighbor kitty I’ve nicknamed Cream Loof Nornj. The others were a peachy-orange kitty with pale green eyes and fluffy cheeks who was nibbling on plants in his (?) yard, and a skittish, silvery-fawny-gray kitty with large angled gem-yellow eyes who wove back and forth to cautiously investigate me and S when we reached her (?) piece of sidewalk. The doggies were a Golden Retriever and a cream-colored Labrador mix.

A good night’s sleep, a pretty morning sky of rose-tinted clearing clouds, and sunshine this afternoon.

Entertaining fiction online - I’m hesitant to post reviews since I wouldn’t *unequivocally* recommend anything I’ve read recently and don’t think I have the energy for explaining nuances, but let’s just say sf&f with queer themes and a bit of a historical flavor.

Maples with kiwi green, dandelion yellow, and flame red leaves all at once. The colors, the colors, the colors!
